The Alberta Lobbyists Act

In 2007, the Alberta Legislature passed Bill 1, Lobbyists Act in the name of “free and open access to government”. The Act was proclaimed, or passed as law, on September 28, 2009.

The Lobbyists Act requires that paid consultants that have dealings with Government of Alberta officials in the course of carrying out their responsibilities on behalf of a client, register under the Lobbyists Act. Prismatic Group Inc. has adopted a policy of full compliance with the provisions of the Lobbyists Act and associated regulations.

What this means is that upon our engagement with any government relations client, we will begin the registration process with the Registrar named under the Lobbyists Act. Upon receipt of approval of the Registrar, the submitted information will be available to the public should they choose to access it. The submission will not contain specific details of any contractual agreement, but will indicate what government department(s) will be our primary contact and what the lead issue is that we will be dealing with.
